Apple has announced a new MacBook Pro for 2020. Revealed unceremoniously via the Apple Newsroom website, the new 13in machine will completely replace the existing model, a 2019 refresh that introduced more powerful 8th-gen Intel processors and Apple's True Tone Display tech.
This new iteration is itself is another refresh, rather than a brand-new product; it includes a few crucial upgrades but nothing groundbreaking. Chief among these is a new keyboard: Apple has been steadily replacing the notorious "butterfly" keyboards on its existing MacBook products, an undertaking that has been wrapped up with the launch of this new MacBook Pro. It's now impossible to buy a new MacBook from Apple with the keyboard director Taika Waititi once described as "impossible to write on". Hooray.
Inside, you'll find a few quality of life improvements. The 8th-gen Intel processors have for the most part been replaced with their 10th-gen counterparts: I say "for the most part" because there are still a few low-spec MacBook Pro models available with Intel's previous generation of chip built-in. Models with 8th-gen chips start at £1,299; those with 10th-gen chips start at £1,799.

Processors aside, you'll also find the new MacBook Pro has at least twice the storage of its predecessor, with the bare minimum now resting at a comfortable 256GB. Apple also explains the new MacBook has 16GB of RAM available "as standard on select configurations"; what this means is that the high-spec models with 10th-gen Intel chips now start with 16GB of RAM, rising to 32GB if you have an extra £400 to spare, which is a first for a 13in MacBook Pro. Models with 8th-gen Intel chips have 8GB of RAM as standard, with 16GB available for £100 more.
